Unfortunately after weighing the options and taking a look at the prospective turnout, I have decided to postpone the season till next year. All picks/trades and draft order will be pushed back to 2012 and we will pick-up then. The lockout seemed to have dropped interest in our group and instead of running a smaller league I came up with the idea to combine those interested in playing this year with another league started up by Blind Monkeys. For those that entered the NFLL by the deadline, I will send you a notice today of how to sign up. It is not mandatory by any means, please notify me of your choice. If you do not wish to participate refunds will be handled by the end of the week. Also as a thank you for those that entered by the deadline I will come up with a bonus or discount for you in the 2012 season. Thanks to all of those that helped trying to salvage this season.

Bronze $70- league dues, draft day festivities, stat tracker.
Silver $75- all the above , plus 23rd round draft pick.
Gold $85 - all the above, plus entry into Pick the winner contest.
* New rule/incentive, if any bronze package player wins the league a percentage will go to the runner-up. Cough up more loot if you want to be selfish.

Spring trades are now closed. Preseason trades open on Tuesday, Aug 2nd.

As of today I am playing out the preseason as if there WILL BE a season. Meaning league dues are due by 7pm on Monday, August 1st. (No Exceptions) . If the season is cancelled or they decide on a shortened season, I will cancel this year and a refund will be immediately be issued. If thats the case, all picks and trades will transfer over to 2012.

Due to multiple requests, dues for 2011 will be cheaper. Totals have not been set in stone but I believe the packages this year will start at $80 and go up to $100. The gold package this year will not exceed $100.

Anybody else sad this is the last ranking/review for the year??? I want to thank you all for participating. Your effort and spirit for competition does not go unnoticed. A lot of time and effort goes into making this league successful and fun. I hope as always you have had as much fun participating as I have had making it happen for all involved. Please have a Happy and Safe holidays. I hope to get everyone together sometime around the new year to close out the season.

3.75 points is what separated each of the finalists this week. How many people would love to go back in time and ask for an extra 4 points sometime during this season. 4 points would've probably mattered for all teams except Doh (sorry last Doh joke of the year). Two close games like that in the semi's was to be expected but is still nonetheless heartbreaking. Please give up for the two finalists, who have earned their spot in NFLL history. Lets now go take a look at the match-up and I will try to find some stats and fun facts.

It is actually scary how similar they both are to each other. 619 boasting 1 more win and averaged 1 more point per game in the regular season. History wise, this will be the first time these two teams have ever faced off. However in NFLL age, Hail is the oldest team...the Godfather, the one who started it all. An aged veteran with 1 Flask to his credit, a victory in "Flask Bowl V" (2006). Current record holder for biggest margin of victory in a championship game (74). Also holds the highest score (190) in a championship game in the "modern era". Overall record of 73-50 over his career, an impressive 7-4 playoff record, and 1-0 in title games. However, a #3 seed has never won the title before and only once before has the #3 seed made an appearance (2004 - lost to #1).

And in this corner...he trucks over everyone in his path...the huuuuuman winnebago from San Diegoooooooo!!!!!! No that's not clever enough but I'll think of something. But we have the NFLL's youngest team, the 619ers, our 2010 #1 seed. Currently holding a league best 11-4 overall record. Finished 2010 with the 2nd highest ppg in the league at 146. 619ers may have beginners luck on his side, in the previous 8 title games that featured a rookie, the rookie has won an impressive and astounding 3 times before. By the way nothing rhymes with San Diego, so that nickname is gonna have to do.

The early line is Hail -8. Both teams boast 2 great defenses and Running Games. The trio of Turner, Charles and Blount carry the load for Hail and 619's top three are McCoy, Brown and Tolbert. Again both teams are very similar but Hail may have the slight advantage on the receiving and kicking game. A huge game from Big Ben or Rivers could indeed make the difference in this match-up. Good luck to both of you. You both have done great and I wish each of you the best of luck.

Here is the match-up a lot of us wanted to see. The champ vs. the #1 seed. The rookie will have to be on his toes, as Dandies comes into this game with a ton of experience. Dandies is 2-0 all-time in the semis. The last time these 2 teams met was in week 11, 10 point victory for Dandies in a shoot-out 174-164. Two games to go gentlemen...good luck.

#3 $Hail-Mary$ (9-5) 114 po/ppg vs. #7 Blind Monkeys (8-6) 147 po/ppo

Hail coming off a big win last week in the Cane/Able match-up. He is 1-0 all-time in the semi's and the last he did that he won the flask. Monkeys...well what can you say about Monkeys, seems like the guy is damn near guaranteed to go to the title game. Hail really has his work cut out for him this week. Monkeys is 6-1 all-time in the playoffs and 2-0 in the semis. The last time these two met was a week 8, Hail smashing by 72. Can Monkeys redeem himself and be the first team to go to 3 straight title games????

First of all I want to congratulate the elite eight. It really is an impressive feat to make it to the playoffs in this league. As you all know it is not an easy task. I know we all tend to "hate" but give credit where credit is due. To the eight that missed out, you all put up one helluva fight. This year had the closest race to date for the last two seeds. Even the 4^th seed was decided on week 13’s outcome. 37.25 points is all that separated #8 from #9. More importantly you can see the importance of playing out and finishing up the season. We had 11 teams finish over .500. We had 3 teams that had identical records to post-season teams but had their bubbles burst by points. So much for the old adage…A win is a win. This is also the first time in NFLL history that we have not had a 10 win team in our league, only 2 wins separate #1 from #8... which could mean this is anybody’s flask. Special shout-out to Kurabu, all four of us finished over .500. First division to ever accomplish that feat. Good Luck to you all this week.

Both of these teams playing for their 1^st ever post-season victory. This will be their 3^rd ever match-up. 6 is 2-0 this season with the average margin of victory has been less than 12 points. Agency has his work cut out for him, as going against the #1 seed is always tough. History has shown it too, only once before has the #8 seed captured the upset. Agency has had an up-and-down season, due to a myriad of injuries. Now in the playoffs, it looks like the Agency’s season will come down to the arm of Aaron Rodgers. The rookie 619 has relied on a solid draft and great FA pick-ups. Phillip Rivers will be leading his leading receiver Reggie Wayne and his #1 RB LeSean McCoy.

TA- last appearance #3 in 2007 (2010 key wins- BM, key losses CO, 619 x2, DD)

#2 Cocoon of Horror (9-4) 143 ppg vs. #7 Blind Monkeys (7-6) 132 ppg
The Cocoon is back in the playoffs, from the efforts of his running back duo, Chris Johnson and Peyton Hillis. Not to mention the surprise play of Matt Cassel and the WR tandem of Maclin and Jackson that led him to the Supedo and Swoosh title. Cocoon may have a bit of the post-season rust though, his last appearance in ’08 was a 1^st round exit to Buckeyes. To catch a team like Monkeys in the 1^st round isn’t exactly lucky, seeing how Monkeys is coming off back-to-back title game appearances. Monkeys earned his playoff birth behind the Patriot team of Brady & Welker not to mention his running game of Steven Jackson and McFadden. Monkeys is 5-1 all-time in the playoffs. A decent stat to have and scary stat to go up against if you ask me.

CO- last appearance #5 in 2008 (2010 key wins- 6,KC,BE, TA, key losses BE, HM)
BM- last appearance #1 in 2009 (2010 key wins- DD x2 key losses 6, HM, TA)

#3 $Hail-Mary$ (8-5) 145 ppg vs. #6 Killa Cali (8-5) 142 ppg
Back-to-Back to 1^st round match-ups for these two. This weeks game will be the 6^th meeting of these teams in the past 2 years. KC holds the advantage during that period at 4-1, however this year they split the 2010 match-ups. Hail in the post-season for the 3^rd time in a row. As usual Hail has relied on the strength of his defense and running game to get him to the post-season. Charles and Turner have been a formidable weapon, paired with the talents of Bowe and Gates has led him to the Kurabu title. Can Hail (3-2 in the 1^st round) redeem last year’s 1^st round loss to KC? Killa is making his 4^th straight appearance, 6-1 all-time in 1^st round. Unlike previous years of relying on the QB and defense, KC has survived on the strength of his receiver corp, the trio of Megatron, Lloyd, and Santonio. Alas, yet again a Cane/Able title game will have to wait.

#4 Diaper Dandies (8-5) 128 ppg vs. #5 Buckeyes (8-5) 154 ppg
Dandies may have the higher seed here but a Dandies win would have to be considered an upset here. Buckeyes outscoring Dandies in the regular season by over 333 points, that’s a difference of 25 points per game! But Dandies is Dandies, and in this league no franchise garners as much respect as his. He has been here before and is a two-time champion. Buckeyes is looking to finally grab his 1^st flask, he is a regular in the NFLL post-season as he has been in the playoffs 7 of the 8 years his franchise has been around. In what may be the greatest running back duo (AP and Arian) in the league right now, we know he can put up points. He knows how to win and this year we are expecting some big things.

Congrats on those that have already clinched a playoff spot. Post-Season is one hell of an accomplishment in this league. Hard to believe that is still a 12 man race...yes Ds Nuts can still make the postseason. Remember points play a huge role here, every point counts and can make a difference between division winner, seeding or post-season play. This season is no exception...where a .25 of a point has made the difference for teams like Nuts, Buckeyes, Sole and Cali. I can not stress enough the importance of playing out the season. Just because you are out of the post-season does not mean you can give up. You have the opportunity to play spoiler and you actions and results can effect the final playoff seeding... PLAY TO WIN. (except for Cocoon...Jeru needs you to take a dive).

Ale House on Sunday, Dec 5th. Lets all finish up the season how it started...everybody together in a loud room getting drunk. I'd like to see you all there. Games start at 10am.

1. -- Cocoon of Horror (9-3 / 5-1) 145 ppg - Clinches the Supedo Division...congrats. PPG has increased 5 points in past week alone. On a real tear, 3 wins in a row. Still needs to win this week to lock-up the Conference title and spoil Jeru's post-season dreams. However, even with a loss he is guaranteed a top 3 seed regardless.

2. ^ $Hail-Mary$ (8-4 / 4-2) 146 ppg - In charge of his own future here, although with the playoff spot locked up, there is still a shot for other awards here. A win and a KC loss guarantees him the #2 seed as long as: 6 loses or if 6 wins he needs to stay ahead by points (up 17 now). A win, a KC loss and a Cocoon loss can give him conference title if he can stay ahead of CO by points (up 14.25 now). Things can get messy if he loses, would be the #5 seed if KC wins, and #6 seed if KC loses but beats him on points...confused yet? But all that goes out the window if he wins and KC loses, so for this week, a meaningless game between 2 playoff bound teams (Buckeyes and Killa) can actually give him a shot at an extra $100 and a guaranteed seed no lower than #2. So Hail will be rooting for Jeru to upset Cocoon and a Buckeyes win. By the way what jackass makes this schedule and gives this guy #15 and #16 team to close out the season?

3. ^ 619ers (8-4 / 6-0) 145 ppg - In great shape. Locked up the Supedo division...congrats. Even with a loss he is guaranteed a seeding in the top 3. Always important in the 1st round. If 6 loses, technically the conference championship would be up for grabs but he has a 208.5 lead over the next contender...well done 6. However that could all be moot since he has Doh this week and is likely to win out.

4. ^ KILLA CALI (8-4 / 3-3) 145 ppg - Able to make the post-season and now sets his sights for a division title. Still technically has a shot for division and conference title, however he has the hardest road as opposed to Hail and Cocoon. However, a win with a Hail loss gives him the division, that along with a Cocoon loss can give him a shot for the conference title. If Killa and Hail both win then points separate the difference (Hail up 8.75) between the division winner and the #5 seed.

5. v Buckeyes (7-4-1/4-2) 153 ppg - Oh how the mighty have fallen. 3 losses in a row was not enough to keep him out of the playoffs though. Just a few weeks ago he was the #1 seed and now is down to #6. Could be rough for the top seeds to face BE in the 1st round. Congrats on locking up the post-season spot...again.

***** Bottom Line for the teams below...JUST WIN. *****
6. ^ Diaper Dandies (7-5 / 3-3) 127 ppg - loss of Gore could be big. Now in 1st place in the Daiya,but this week is a must win.. A win means the #4 seed, a loss means he needs DS to beat BM and TA to beat H8 to keep his seed. In the case he loses at 7-6, he should still be playoff bound but he will need some of the 6-6 teams to lose and outscore any that win to assure his spot.

7. ^ The Agency (6-5/4-2) 131 ppg - Will need to win this week, not only to maintain a playoff seed but to help eliminate Haters. With a win, points matter here and the Agency is in good shape, (22 over BM, 45 over JR, 97 over GH, and 124 over H8).

8. -- HaTeRs (7-5 / 3-3) 121 ppg - A game for survival. After last week's dismal effort, it may be hard to maintain the playoff spot. In a must win situation this week, a loss by Haters leaves the door wide open and all but guarantees TA his spot. If H8 loses then he will need DS to beat BM.

9. ^ Blind Monkeys (6-6 / 5-1) 129 ppg - Can last years runner up get back to the post-season? BM will need to win and need the other 6-6 (GH,JR,TA) teams to lose. Or he can win and have Dandies or Haters lose. Since he would have Jeru on points. In the world of scenarios, he is actually in "OK" shape as long as he can handle his business this week vs. the Nut Squad.

10. v Jeru (R.I.P.) (6-6/ 2-4) 127 ppg - Tough loss last week which would have helped immensely and eliminated the Monkeys from the post-season. Jeru will need to win, and needs GH,TA and BM to lose to slide in. (nqq)

11. (T) ^ D's Nuts (5-6-1 / 1-5) 131 ppg - At 5-6-1, one would think that DS would be playing for pride but that half game makes a huge difference. Nuts is back in the playoff scene with a win over Monkeys, a JR loss, a GH loss and a TA loss. It won't be easy but its still possible.

12. v TrueSole (5-7 / 3-3) 133 ppg - 6th highest scoring team in the league and will he not be in the playoffs. Its a shame but he can still spoil any chance of Heels making it. A few weeks ago, Jeru brings up to me what he calls the Chipotle curse. He says everytime "Chipotle" was mentioned in TS smack talk, Sole lost that game. Last week we left it alone and low and behold, Sole posts "I'm thankful for Chipotle"... the nail in the coffin, he jinxed himself. Long live the Chipotle curse..Sole's kryptonite.

I like the challenge and the effort by 619 (who will now be known as 6 or Six) to keep the VSOP alive. I will try my best to get another tourney up and going again. As with every year, it always takes a backseat to the NFLL but the lack of interest over the past year has been so disappointing. I hear ya though...and will try to plan something.

NFLL

Only 2 weeks left in the regular season and technically it is still a 12 man race. Last week really seemed to mess things up even more. Every year you all have been getting better and better. Never in the 9 years of this league have we had such a balanced league. You all have really put some serious effort into this and I wish you all the best. There are some must win games this week, it is really going to be a photo finish. Also, please don't forget that there are Thursday games for the rest of the year. Finish strong...Play to win.

By the looks of the last poll, the majority of you want to see Buckeys vs. 6 or Buckeys vs. Cocoon. The rest of us should try our best to see to it that it doesn't happen.

1. (T) ^ Cocoon of Horror (8-3 / 5-1) 140 ppg - When it is to close to call sometimes its better to throw them in a tie. 2 wins in a row vs BE's 2 losses in a row makes up some of the difference. This week he has a chance to make things real difficult for The Agency's playoffs hopes.

(T) -- Buckeyes (7-3-1/4-2) 155 ppg - Strength of schedule was real similar to CO, they even have either tied or lost to DS, his PPG and pts against is more impressive then CO and it wasn't enough to justify dropping him down to #2. A loss to Restraining Order this week would be devastating to his ranking, not to mention his seeding.

3. ^ $Hail-Mary$ (6-4 / 3-2) 144 ppg - Looks to finish up the season with 8 wins in a row. Can he keep this momentum going? Also props to the kid and his sportsmanship last week, after 5 years he breaks the streak.

4. v 619ers (7-4 / 6-0) 145 ppg - Put up 162 and cant walk away with the win??? 162 in the 1st round in the playoffs should be more than enough to get to the semi's. By the way nice new website you got there.

5. v KILLA CALI (7-4 / 3-3) 142 ppg - Remember the good ol' days when scoring 154 was an automatic win...what the hell. Also becoming a believer in the Nut squad draft philosophy... "wide-out, wide-out, wide-out."

6. ^ Jeru (R.I.P.) (6-5/ 2-4) 126 ppg - Last week's win couldn't have come at a better time. A win over the 1st place team is always impressive. How about sending a little props my way...I called that upset. Looking to revenge last years 47 point loss to Monkeys this week.

7. v HaTeRs (7-4 / 3-3) 124 ppg - Still running things in Daiya. Should be a great match-up this week vs. KC. Injuries are playing a key role on both teams.

8. ^ The Agency (6-5/4-2) 131 ppg - Up to the overall #7 seed right now. Can he hold on? Won't be easy with #1 Cocoon up next. However he is only a game back from 6, if he can get 2 more wins and if 6 gets 2 losses in a row...it could happen...its happened before in this league.

9. -- Diaper Dandies (6-5 / 3-3) 128 ppg - Just when you think he is out of this thing, he comes back with a 174 point effort. As of now he is holding on to the overall #8 seed. This week is vs. Go Heels. It won't be to easy.

10. v TrueSole (5-6 / 3-3) 134 ppg - Last week's loss could end up being huge. Sole now in a must win situation. Outlook looks tough too, 619 isn't just gonna give that win away.

11. v Blind Monkeys (5-6 / 5-1) 128 ppg - Like Sole in a must win situation. Jeru needs the victory too, it is really gonna be a battle.

The commish needs to apologize, it seems that overall record outweighs division record and I thought it was the other way around. So your division record only plays in a tie-breaker fashion. However the division winner still gets a free pass to the playoffs, regardless of overall record or division record. Win your division and your in. It is still "Win and your in". Usually about this time we have the "magic number" set in stone. This year because it is still such a close race (12 teams at .500 or better), its a lot harder to tell but as of now the magic number is 9. Meaning any team with 9 wins at season's end should have a guaranteed seeding. Even though its possible, it is still not likely to finish below .500 (6-7) and make the playoffs. Just remember we play to win, finish strong...

1. -- Buckeyes (7-2-1/4-1) 158 ppg - 1 off week wasn't enough to knock Buckeyes out the top spot. 7-2 record vs teams that have averaged 140/week vs. him. Pretty impressive, and his 158 ppg is even more impressive.

With 3 upsets last week, the playoff race is starting to heat up quite a bit. There are 12 teams at .500 or better. Bye weeks are almost over but they are taking their tolls. Although we are in week 9 already, there is still a lot of football to be played. Congrats to Monkeys who is our 1st ever NFLL team to cap out at moves. Hope he made the last one count. I like what I'm seeing here. Looks like we are starting to balance out quite a bit. Last week shook things up quite a bit and mathematically no team is out...going into week 8 and we have 16 team race. You all need to get off my nuts with the "where's the rankings?" or I will start having to charge you all for this. 619, you are new so I am going to break it down for you. Back in the day when I had lots of free time I came up with the weekly power rankings, my opinions with a simple formula I use to calculate who the best teams in the league are. Also to keep simple stats like records and division record (2-0 / 2-0), PPG (points per game). The formula looks at the following items, PPG (#1 detail), record, starting roster, teams they beat, opponents schedule, and for a small portion a teams depth and injuries. "^" symbol means the team has increased in rankings since last week and "v" means the opposite and "--" means no change...It's easy to catch on, basically just a forum for me to make fun of the teams not doing well or make fun of teams who have not beaten me since 2005 (like Hail). Also highlights things like rivalry bowls, NFLL trivia and other useless stats. You will catch on pretty quick since the usual suspects are always at the top and haters will always be struggling to make it out of #16. As always, take them for what they are worth and enjoy.

1. BUCKEYES (2-0 / 2-0) 153 ppg - As I called it, the division is his for the taking, what we didn't count on is Cocoon standing in his way at week #3. Winner takes sole possession of Supedo. Top 2 draft picks face off this weekend, should be a shoot-out.

2. BLIND MONKEYS (2-0 / 2-0) 143 ppg - Getting real tired of this guy, somebody needs to take him out. Up vs. Doh this week so no offense to DB but a 3-0 start looks likely. This was a tough call with 619 right on his heels but a win vs. Dandies is always huge in this league.

3. THE 619ERS (2-0 / 2-0) 148 ppg - The rook looks like a veteran with the start he has been off to. This week looks to be a breeze going against the RO. Although losing Tebow to Haters had to be a real bummer a 3-0 start sure would more than make up for it.

4. COCOON OF HORROR (2-0 / 2-0) 145 ppg - The shocker so far, has beaten some decent competition and now has a chance for a 3-0 start and to be division leader.

5. KILLA CALI (2-0 / 2-0) 139 ppg - This has to be the worst undefeated team in the league, however he did have a great win over Hail to extend the streak. In 2005, the last time Hail beat KC:
-I am pretty sure all 16 teams were still living in Vegas
-Hurricane Katrina had just taken it's toll
-there were no Kardashians to keep up with
-Michael Jackson was found innocent on child molestation charges
-I was still in my 20's
-damn Hail did you even have your 2 kids yet?
-Brad and Jennifer had just broken up but Tom and Katie had just gotten together.
-Everybody loves Raymond was the most popular tv show
-the list could go on and on...but you get my point.

6. GO HEELS! (1-1 / 1-1) 141ppg - Tough loss last week and now this week has to face KC in the Love/Hate Bowl. Going to be real important to grab some wins early on as she may be the front runner for hardest schedule, her next 4 opponents have a combined record of 8-0...ouch.

7. JERU (RIP) (1-1 / 1-1) 137 ppg - Slightly edges out Agency for the #7 spot, and unfortunately has to go up against Hail this week who is definitely looking to prove a point. This could really be a close matchup.

8. THE AGENCY (1-1 / 1-1) 138 ppg - This was just about a coin flip. Last week's effort vs. 619 was heart-breaking and losing Reggie even more so. Really just needs to get back to business and pick up a win vs. D's Nuts.

9. DIAPER DANDIES (1-1 / 1-1) 137 ppg - How many of you are writing the kid off already??? Well put your hands down cuz he will be back...kinda like Merv in a buffet line. Be warned, don't take him lightly.

10. $HAIL-MARY$ (0-2 / 0-2) 125 ppg - Some may not agree with this but in my opinion this is the best 0-2 team in the league. A few different plays here and there mixed with a little better luck and this team could've been 2-0. With Jeru this week and Buckeyes on the horizon, there is talk of a 0-4 start...

11. D's NUTS (1-1 / 1-1) 125 ppg - Interesting match-ups this week but still a winnable game vs. The agency this week. The talent is there so I still see this squad being a contender.

12. TRUE SOLE (0-2 / 0-2) 112 ppg - Had real high hopes for Sole this season, not sure what is going on...starting 0-3 in the hole is never good. Decent match-up this week vs. IP.

13. DOH! BOYS (1-1 / 1-1) 110 ppg - Don't get me wrong this is a tough division or at least this should be tough division. A win this week would be the statement we have all been waiting for.

14. HATERS (0-2 / 0-2 ) 113 ppg - The GM is back in town and is looking to get things back on track. Week 3 is a nice little matchup vs old division rival Dandies, who I am sure has not forgotten what happened last year.

15. INDIGOPALMSSUCKS (0-2 / 0-2) 98 ppg - Plain and simple a win is a must this week.

16. RESTRAINING ORDER (0-2 / 0-2) 78 ppg - Good God man...78 points per game? Not a whole lot to say here except, question answered for those who ever wondered if they should draft 2 QBs that early.

Sorry kids...never knew I had so many fans. The uproar from the lack of preseason rankings was incredible. Sorry been a busy time at work for me, lots of problems and issues. So please forgive me.
I just don't have the time to go into detail for all the teams but as always there are a few that really stand-out, a few that did well, and a few that did not. So I'm going to organize the rankings into 2 halves...sorry I know its crappy. BUT the problem with the teams that were ranked a little low were because of some of the usual problems...Teams that drafted for more than 1 team, teams that werent able to be present for the draft and teams that did not hit the free agency market in a timely fashion...all seemed be ranked a little low. So doing an actual ranking would be pretty hard to do. Hard to rank teams like Haters who weren't present, have no defense and then didn't hit the FA market til late last week.

Top half (in no particular order)
Diaper Dandies- even with the lack of picks, I think he did the most out of his draft, he also MC'd damn near the whole draft and helped with the yahoo list for HaTeRs.
619ers - For his 1st draft in this league, I was shocked at how well he did and how he was so well prepared. Looking forward to seeing him accomplish big things this year.
Buckeyes - Does this guy ever have a piss-poor draft? Supedo looks to be his for the taking.
Go Heels! - Daaaaaamn has anybody really looked at this squad?
Blind Monkeys - Again, loaded with talent and poised at another deep playoff run.

SEASON IX UPDATES
-Division changes.
In an effort to help balance out the Douche division, I shuffled 2 teams. Blind Monkeys has switched with The Agency. So it is now:
BM, DD, H8 & DB
TA, RO, BG & SX
HM, KC, JR & GH
CO, TS, BE & IP
Please remember you play every team in your division twice, every team in your conference once and you will play 3 teams from another division in a non-conference play.

-Teams caps, moves, and free agency/waivers
The days of Waiver bucks are gone, and we are back to the rolling waiver wire. A team that is higher on the rolling list will be given the player if more than 1 team tries to acquire him. After a successful acquisition, that team is rolled to the end of the list. For those that remember this was the standard method of getting waived players before last year. Please note this is for "Waived" players only, not for regular free agents.
Team acquisition caps were set at 50/season and max trade for players caps at 10/season. =
No team came close to the max trades and I came up with the 50/season by the following average: 3.5 acquisitions/week x 13 weeks = 45.5 + 5 preseason acquisitions = 50.5 which was rounded down. Each team has 22 draft picks for a 25 person roster meaning most will need 3 to fill their roster, during preseason so I felt this was a fair number. Please note this is for acquisitions only, drops do not count toward this total. Also there is no max per week, it is 50 for the season.

-Positions and stat changes
No more IR spot, it is irrelevant in this league since it is not a keeper league and once a player is moved to the IR, their season is over.
Yahoo screwed more than a few people last year by itemizing their defensive positions. This year we use the following 6 man starting defense:
2 DB's - two defensive backs, they can be safties, cornerbacks, dime or nickelbacks...any 2 DB's
2 LB's - two linebackers, they can be left, right, middle, strong or weak...any 2 LB's
1 DL - one defensive lineman, you can use a tackle, end or noseguard...any defensive lineman
1 D - the slash spot, can be filled with any defensive player...ANY DEFENSIVE PLAYER.
If I understand Yahoo correctly all players will be noted with their position as it pertains to the league, this should help avoid confusion while picking up players:
Ex. Dwight Freeney, although a DE, will be listed as a DL when viewed in our league.
Ex. Darelle Revis, although a CB, will be listed as a DB when viewed in our league.
Stat changes were very minor this year:
Rushing- points per carry increased from .2 to .25
Passing- bonus increased. 350 passing yards nets you 3.5 bonus points.
Return- yards increased. 30 return yards nets you 1 pt.
Unfortunately even though some of you requested the following were not allowed or were not changed. Negative points for missed FG's, negative points on the QB for sacks, negative points on the QB for interceptions, Decreased points for defensive sacks from 3 to 2, 2 point conversions (I wanted this too, but we would have to lose another point category if we added this; so if your player scores a 2 point conversion, they get credit for the catch or carry and the yards involved but not 2 points for the score.) And for whatever reason, we can't add an offensive fumble return for a TD, don't know why this is separate or why the hell yahoo would do this but it will not be added. (EX: means if a RB fumbles the ball and your player picks up the ball and scores no TD is awarded)

By the way 24 days to go. As far as I know these are the teams status for the draft.

The 2010 Draft will be held Sunday, September 5th at noon.

The deadline to pay for league dues will be Sunday, August 15th. The dues will have multiple packages again with an option to add on a 23rd round pick and option to enter the "Pick the Winner" contest. These are approximate but the fees will be less than last year, most likely with a $100-$110-$115 range. I will have a more detailed posting to follow soon.

It has been real nice having the spring break from the NFLL. Spring trades open in less than a month. The draft is about 5 months away so please start planning on coming out to Vegas. I can not give a draft day date until the NFL announces their 2010 season. So please stay tuned.

VSOP

The interest in the VSOP has declined sharply so that is why we have postponed the main event this year. I would like to get one more big event before we announce the final 8. There are a ton of people on the bubble. Unfortunately if the interest level does not increase, we will just dump the point system and go back to the casual game.

2010 NFLL Draft Order / The 619ers

Alland will be entering the NFLL this season as "The 619ers", (SI) team colors will be dark blue and orange. Can I get a chant of "Fresh Fish! Fresh Fish! Fresh Fish!" Thanks for joining we hope you are up to the challenge.

Before the main event for today is announced I have to remind you of the following notes. To the out of towners please start saving up for the draft! The 2010 schedule has been updated and is always located on the bottom of the-flask. 2009 trades that effected the 2010 draft are also updated on the lower right corner of the-flask. All other updates for the upcoming season will be posted near the end of spring, so please stay tuned.

Now I hope you all have your horseshoe, lucky rabbits foot or Robert Smith Poker chip out.

Honestly though to get the full effect of this, take the time and read, just scroll down slowly. Whats the rush, you have a whole halftime to kill...half the fun is the buildup of excitement.

#15 Bengals - last team to draw gets #15, not that there were many options since last two numbers were #'s 14 & 15.

#14 The 619ers - thanks to Bengals the rookie grabs #14. Remember Kickers are VERY IMPORTANT!

#13 Jeru (R.I.P.) - The Ru must have used up all his luck last year, the lowest draw from the 8 playoff teams.

#12 Restraining Order - After the fantasy gods punished the Stalker by having him miss the playoffs by 6 points, I thought for sure his luck would take a turn for the better...but he dropped a spot in 2010.

#10 HaTeRs - Oh thank god...after drafting at #15 last 2 years I'm sure he is a little relieved too.

The draft order has been selected and will be announced during halftime of the Super Bowl. Go Heels pulled them out of the hat this past Sunday. Unfortunately she has been sworn to secrecy so don't even try to get the inside info. Also the info on the new team will be announced that same day. Please remember the trading period is closed. I will post when it is open again. For the out of towners you have about 8 months till the draft please make start making arrangements to be here.

Congrats Dandies! That was a great MNF game to end the season. Props to Monkeys for a great season as well. 14-2 is nothing to be ashamed of.
I haven't heard from anybody about Saturday, so we will NOT be getting together this weekend.

Stats, standings, lottery pick order will be official as of 1/2/10.
The Order of the draft pick lottery order as of today will be:
DD, BM, KC,TS, HM, IP, JR, BE, RO, TA, CO, DB, H8, GH, BG and then the new team.
Don't forget, I will post the 2010 NFLL draft order during halftime of the superbowl.

#1 Blind Monkeys (14-1) 150 ppg vs. #2 Diaper Dandies (11-4) 144 ppg
The top two seeds meet up in the title game yet again. This is Monkeys 2nd straight title game appearance, the only team to accomplish this feat since D's Nutz in '05 and '06. This is Dandies 2nd appearance to the title game ('07). Both of these teams are 1-0 in title games so we are going to see who the best of the best really is. The last time these two met was week #11, an 18 pt Monkey win. Monkeys holds a 3-2 all time record vs. Dandies. Point wise these two matchup extrememly similiar. Monkeys does have a slight ppg advantage, however Dandies does have that 207 pt game under his belt. Either way this should be a high scoring affair. Position wise neither really has a dramatic advantage at any position over the other. If either team can get a boost from their D or a few big gains from the kicking game, it should be enough to outlast the other. I want to wish them both good luck. Yes, you do have to wait till next weekend to claim "the title", the reason is if any point adjustments are done, even if you are ahead by 50. After a week I consider the score official.

I haven't heard any suggestions for the flask presentation. Is nobody interested in getting together? I would like to meet up somewhere or just try to get everyone together for drinks and hang out. Saturday Jan. 2nd was date I had listed (SEE VSOP BELOW). Also if anybody know anyone that would like to join the league, then please have them contact me. I know there are 4-6 names that have been mentioned but I have yet to hear from anybody. They can call, text or email me.

Congrats to the final four, it's no small feat. Sorry but I'm a numbers guy so for those that like the stats and trends...enjoy.

In a rematch of last years title game. This matchup looks like it could be another thriller. There is definitely no love lost between these two as they both have reasons to hold a grudge...Monkeys is holding the '08 flask and KC ruined Monkey's perfect season. They asked me why I always spell Blind Monkeys...Munkees. My answer, its a sign of disrespect which is funny because he is actually one of the few teams I do respect so no more of that. Monkeys is 4-0 all time in the playoffs, 1-0 in the semis (Duh). KC is 3-2 in semi-final games.
Last result: was a 26 pt KC win in week 5.

#2 Diaper Dandies (10-4) 145 ppg vs. #3 TrueSole (10-4) 132 ppg
Dandies is looking like an unstoppable force right now, I can only assume he is looking forward to another rematch vs. the Monkeys. This is Dandies 2nd time to the semis where he is 1-0 all-time. Sole is celebrating his first ever post-season victory (congrats). The Kukini king is looking at a David & Goliath type matchup this week. Does he have what it takes to upset Dandies quest for a 2nd flask?
Last result: was a 3 pt DD victory in week 13 of 2008.

First of all I want to congratulate the elite eight. It really is an impressive feat to make it to the playoffs in this league. As you all know it is not an easy task. I know we all tend to "hate" but give credit where credit is due. To the eight that missed out, you all put up one helluva fight. This year had the closest race to date for that valuable #8 seed. Six points is all that seperated #8 from #9. More importantly you can see the importance of playing out and finishing up the season without giving up. The Agency's win in week 13 was huge, Doh's win in week 12 eliminated Cocoon. Play to win...remember that. Again I give my congratulations, you all have a 1-8 shot at holding up that flask. Good Luck!!!!

Buckeyes is in the postseason just by the skin of his teeth. Buck really has his work cut out for him this week. BE is 4-5 in the playoffs and 3-2 in 1st round games. These teams have only met once before in 2007 where Monkeys won by 16.

When the Dandies are in the playoffs, you should always be concerned. The Mowabb champ is 3-1 overall in the playoffs and 1-1 in the 1st round. This team is looking damn good lately. IP is back in the playoffs after taking a few years off. I've said it before and I will say it again. This is the best IP team we have ever seen. However dropping the last 2 of the season is not the momentum you want going into the playoffs. Will he be able to turn it around?These teams met last in week 13 a 69 point victory for Dandies.
DD- last appearance #6 in 2008 (2009 key wins-IP)
IP- last appearance #6 in 2006 (2009 key wins- JR, BE, TS)

After winning the Kukini division Sole is looking to redeem himself in the postseason and make a name for his team as a NFLL powerhouse. Jeru has really turned his franchise around as of late as well. Both of these teams have not had the most success in the postseason. Between the two of them: a total of 13 NFLL seasons with a post-season record of 1-4. Jeru won the last meeting between the two by 26 in week 4.
TS- last appearance #1 in 2006 (2009 key wins - IP, KC, HM, BE)
JR- last appearance #7 in 2007 (2009 key wins - KC x2, TS, HM)

The game these two have always waited for...believe it or not in 8 years these teams have not met in the playoffs. They did play in a 3rd place consolation game in 2005, a 15 point victory for Hail but never in a matchup for the flask. KC who has won his 2nd division title in back to back years swept Hail during the season by an average of 23 points. Hail is also looking for his first victory vs. KC since 2005. Hail is hungry to hold up that flask again and to avenge last season's disappointing finish. All time in first round games, KC is 5-1 and HM 3-1.

2. Diaper Dandies (8-4 / 4-2) 138 ppg
The ppg of this team in the last 4-5 weeks is downright scary. I loved (nqq) his running game before and I love it even more now. This will be a tough team to match-up against in the playoffs. (Preseason #4)

3. TrueSole (8-4 / 3-3) 130 ppg
All the pieces of the puzzle finally starting to come together. In one week we will find out if Sole did the edges first. A strong 2nd half of the season has Sole looking like a complete team. (Preseason #3)

4. IndigoPalmsSucks (7-5/4-2) 127 ppg
Where to start with Mr. IP, most people disregarded this squad early with the 1-4 start but man has the tide turned. After a 6 game winning streak this team still has a shot for the conference crown. (Preseason #8)

5. Jeru (RIP) (7-5/ 4-2) 128 ppg
At mid-season this looked like the Huarache division leader, even after a few hiccups this team is still in the race. Definately one of the scarier 7-5 contender teams. (Preseason #11)

6. Buckeyes (7-5 / 3-3) 125 ppg
Doesn't matter what year it is or what players this squad has, the kid is always in the playoff race. If I remember right, he has only missed the playoffs once in past 6 years. Not an easy feat in this league. (Preseason #7)

7. Restraining Order (7-5 / 3-3) 124 ppg
If any team turned on the burners at the right time...this is it. 5-1 in the past 6 weeks has in him contention for the playoffs. (Preseason #9)

8.Killa Cali (7-5 / 4-2) 132 ppg
Everybody's favorite team to hate, is still in the hunt to lock up a spot. For sure this is the closest race we have ever had for the playoffs in this league. (Preseason #12)

9. $Hail-Mary$ (7-5/ 3-3) 130ppg
When Jeru slipped, Hail took over as the front-runner for the Huarache leader but after 3 straight losses he let the rest of the division catch up and threaten his seasons survival. (preseason #1)

10. The Agency (5-7 / 1-5) 125ppg
Honestly the best team that will not be in the playoffs. The ppg and late season win streak just isn't enough for him to finish in the postseason. The 1-5 finish the world's softest division is definately to blame. (preseason #16)

11. Cocoon of Horror (5-7 / 2-4) 115 ppg
The NFLL's favorite bubble team goes watches his playoff dreams burst again. This team needed to win out to have a shot and the costly loss to Doh! was the nail. (Preseason #13)

12. Doh! Boys (5-7/4-2) 115ppg
Another team that will fall just one win short of the postseason. (Preseason #14)

13. Haters (4-8 / 3-3) 111 ppg
Another disappointing finish for the HaTeRs. However, the 2 wins vs. Dandies this year is quite an impressive feat. (Preseason #10)

14. Go Heels! (3-9 / 1-5) 115 ppg
The RB situation for the Heels just didn't cut this year and is the major cause for the slump this season. This team early on looked like a serious contender. (Preseason #2)

15. Bengals (3-9 / 1-5) 114ppg
The preseason #5 just could not piece it together this year. (Preseason #5)

Because there are still playoff implications, division titles yet to be won and even a conference crown that ha yet to be decided,all of the games this week are the ***Games of the week***

OK first to answer all the questions about division/conference champs. We follow the yahoo method. Which goes by overall Record, then wins vs. Division, and then points. Its not a perfect system but that is how yahoo scores them. So you can outright win your division and win a top 4 seed by having the best record. So a division with a 7-6 team that is 0-6 in division games CAN STILL win its division if no other team has 7 or more wins. There are good examples on the board now, where Hail is leading Huarache by record(has less division wins) and IP is leading by division wins (record is tied).
Only 2 teams are out of the playoffs and some teams have a tougher road then most. Only Munkees and Dandies have locked up a spot because of their division titles. The remaining 6 spots are still up for grabs. The contenders are HM,IP,TS and BE. Your bubble teams are KC,JR,RO and CO. The SOS teams are TA, DB and H8. Please remember even if it seems you are all but out, the way you finish the season has more implications than what just happens to you. PLAY TO WIN!

The Presto champ still looking like the team to beat, has officially clinched the #1 seed. Tough matchup this week vs. Hail. Can’t help but notice that 1 loss on the record…wonder who blemished that perfect season?

2. IndigoPalmsSucks (7-4/4-2) vs. DD 130 ppg
The best IP team to date. #4 in the seeding and the leading team to take the Kukini division. 6 wins in a row is no easy feat. Good work DK.

3. Diaper Dandies (7-4/4-2) vs. IP 136 ppg
The Mowabb division champ looking to put up some more points and hold on to that #2 seed. 1 more win would be a big step in accomplishing that but this week’s matchup vs. IP could be a little difficult.

4. TrueSole (7-4/3-3) vs. H8 131 PPG
In good shape to make a move on the Kukini crown, schedule is extremely favorable as well.

5. $Hail-Mary$ (7-4/3-3) vs. BM 131 ppg
Just clinging to the huarache lead, Hail needs a big win to hold off Cali and Jeru, and not to mention some bubble teams right behind him. This weeks draw vs. Monkeys isn’t gonna make it any easier.

6. Buckeyes (7-4/3-3) vs. TA 126 ppg
Solid record keeps him in the hunt for the Kukini crown, only about 60 points back from Sole. Agency is looking to spoil Buckeyes chances and earn a playoff birth himself.

7. JERU (R.I.P.) (6-5/4-2) vs. BG 128 ppg
A team that was ranked as high as #2 has fallen to 7 in the rankings, and is currently holding the fickle 8 seed. Nobody has a bigger target on their backs then Jeru right now. No room for error this week.

8. KILLA CALI (6-5/4-2) vs. BYE 132 ppg
The bye week drama starts playing a big role as the playoff race heats up.

9. Restraining Order (6-5/3-3) vs. GH 121 ppg
Still in the thick of things, a 2 game win streak couldn’t have come at a better time. Looking for any of the top seeds to slip up so he can slide into the top 8.

10. Cocoon of Horror (5-6/2-4) vs. DB 116 ppg
Cocoon in better shape then cellar dwellers with a one game advantage . Great matchup this week vs Doh. Although there are some crazy scenarios out there, Cocoon will ultimately decide his own fate. Winning out the season would definitely help him the most.

11. The Agency (4-7/1-5) vs. BE 124 ppg
Definitely not out yet but he is an S.O.S. team. He needs help or rescue in a big way and still needs to win out. Tough to say what will happen,needs DB lose and stay ahead of him but that win would help CO. DB also has a bye in week 13, so TA needs to stay ahead of him with points as well. He is currently leading DB by 114.

12. Doh! Boys (4-7/4-2) vs. CO 114 ppg
If it wasn’t for the points he would actually have the best chances of the SOS teams. The bye in week 13 would help. Can’t help but notice the shenanigans in week 8 vs. IP is about as costly as it gets. A 16 point loss when you had a incomplete roster, that win would be huge right now.

13. Go Heels! (3-8/1-5) vs. RO 115 PPG
The slight lead in points and and the big win vs. Jeru pushes Heels to her highest ranking in weeks. Looking to finish the season on a high note. A win this week over the Order gives the bubble teams a little more room to work with.

15. HaTeRs (4-7/3-3) vs. TS 113 ppg
The 2 wins vs. Dandies are huge but the lowest scoring team in the NFLL in the leagues softest division (no offense DD) keep him down. The schedule is pretty unkind for the Haters with Sole this week and Monkeys the next. Like Heels this team still has a shot to go out with his head held high and also play spoiler.

15. Bengals (3-8/1-5) vs. JR 115 ppg

No comment…I promised I wouldn’t. I also won’t mention I had a zero last week either. Or the fact that he played like a preaseason #15.

3. $Hail-Mary$ -- (4-1/2-1) vs. TS 126 ppg
There’s talk that he is the worst 4-1 team out there plus he had a bye…hmmm. Funny, I see a solid ppg and roster. Not to mention he has beaten #4 and #5, with his only loss vs. #1.

4. Buckeyes -- (4-1/3-0) vs. GH 127 ppg
Solidifies his spot in the top 5 with a convincing win over Dandies.

5. JERU (R.I.P.) -- (4-1/2-1) vs. IP 134 ppg
Great win over the Stalker last week. 3rd team from the Huarache division in the top 5.

6. Diaper Dandies -- (3-2/2-1) vs. RO 120 ppg
No shame in last week’s loss. Tough matchup again this week vs. the RO. Starting to look like the team I predicted in the preaseason even with the loss. Also looking to distance himself some more in the Mowabb division.

7. Restraining Order -- (2-3/1-2) vs. DD 128 ppg
If the playoff started today he would be the 8 seed. Seems to go up and down but manages to stay at the middle of the rankings week after week.

Jumps 3 spots this week with a huge showing over the DB’s. Fluke week or the beginning of something we should all worry about?

When it comes down to it…only 2 games out. Nice to see the turn-around from all the slow starters.

Not sure what the hell is going on here but things are turning ugly. Averaging under 100 points over the last 3 losses… “Ohhh Boy” is more like it.

Convincing win over IP moves Buckeyes to #1 this week. The offensive monkey juggernaut is right behind him. No offense to commish #2 but this week looks like an easy road to 3-0.

A big win vs. the Stalker helps Monkeys climb his way up. The kid is starting to talk a lot of trash…let’s see some bounties get claimed.

3. JERU (R.I.P.) ^ (2-0/2-0) vs. HM 149ppg
This weeks trivia should be, when was the last time a Jeru squad was 2-0. A thrashing over the heels and 1st place in the Huarache division has Jeru at #3. A pissed off hail squad is on the horizon this week, this will be a real good test on how good Jeru really is.

4. Doh! Boys ^ (2-0/2-0) vs. DD 149ppg
Daaaaaaaamn! Doh is undefeated??? Top two teams in what he is now calling the “Dohwabb” division go head to head this week. Doh is already talking about how he is gonna spend that Dough.

5. IndigoPalmsSucks v (1-1/1-1) 129ppg vs. TS
Tough game to go into this week after having to deal with the Buckeyes last week . Sole is a lot better than the record dictates. IP is still in the top 5 and will need a good showing this week to try to stay there.

6. . Killa Cain ^ (1-1/1-1) vs. GH 133PPG
Big win for Cain, the 1st win is always the toughest. Another tough rivalry this week as well as Heels has a roster that looks like it can put up some points.

7. $Hail-Mary$ v (1-1/1-1) 117ppg vs. JR
Former #1 squad has a poor showing in week #2 and now has to play division leader and #3 Jeru. This will be another great match-up this week. It is still early but these league losses can really hurt the playoff chances.

8. Restraining Order v (1-1/1-1) vs. QS 128ppg
A very solid effort last week was just not enough vs the Monkeys. PPG is still real impressive and this team is solid. This weeks MoFo matchup is winnable but could be tough.

9. QuasiMoFo’s ^ (1-1/1-1) vs. RO 130 ppg
QuasiWahWah has a big jump this week. Even though the win was against #15 Bengals the point production had a huge jump. A win against the RO could solidify his team in the top 10.

10. Diaper Dandies v (1-1/1-1) vs. DB 123ppg
From 4 to 14 to 10. Dramatic swings are never good but at least he swinging back toward the top. At least he’s starting to show signs of the team I predicted he would look like in the preseason. I will believe in Dandies if he can beat 2 and O Doh.

11. Cocoon of Horror ^ (1-1/1-1) VS. BE 123ppg
Showing some solid production lately. Will need the trend to continue this week facing the #1 Buckeyes. There is only team rooting for the Cocoon this week and that is the future #1 Monkeys if he pulls this off.

12. Haters v (1-1/1-1) vs. TA 101ppg
Small drop for the Haters after losing to Doh last week. Should have no trouble this week but if Haters loses its going to be hard to stay out of the #16 spot.

13. Bengals ^ (0-2/0-2) vs. BM 122ppg
The only team to lose and yet still climb in the rankings. I’m sorry but this is a very talented 0-2 team. The ppg took a huge swing for the better, however there is a serious bump in the road…or a little Hawaiian one actually. Week 3 is against the Monkeys. This team really needs the upset. 0-3 in league play is huge and remember you still got to play those 3 teams again.

14. TrueSole v (0-2/0-2) vs. IP 113PPG
A disappointing start of the season. Not what I expected from the preseason #3, and I’m sure that’s not what he expected either. Needs to grab a win in division play before this losing streak gets out of hand.

15. Go Heels! v (0-2/0-2) vs. KC 117 PPG
I know one of these weeks this team is going to just go off and put up some stupid, crazy retarded points. It’s gonna happen sooner or later. This week would be a good week to see some sparks and show a sign of some life.

16. The Agency ^ (0-2/0-2) vs. H8 113ppg
Aaaaaaand we’re back. A win against the haters will be huge in turning this season around. This is definitely a big game for both teams. The names are there they just all need to show up and be healthy for Sunday.

In the #1 vs #2 Hail came up big. Looks like a real good matchup in the Cane/Able bowl this week, both teams are averaging more than 130ppg.

Buckeyes ended up holding on to the victory by taking care of business during the Monday night games. In what is the finest IP team we have seen in 4 years this weeks game should not be taken lightly. No time to dwell on the loss of Gonzalez.

3. IndigoPalmsSucks ^ (1-0/1-0) vs. Buckeyes 139ppg
I know its early but this team looks real good. A perfect matchup in week 2 to see if this team is for real.

4. JERU (R.I.P.) ^ (1-0/1-0) vs. GH 147ppg
In what I think is probably the highest ranking a Jeru team has had in a loooooooong time. A good score and an impressive showing in week #1 moves Jeru up from #11.

5. Blind Monkeys ^ (1-0/1-0) vs. RO 163ppg

6. Doh! Boys ^ (1-0/1-0) vs. H8 170ppg
What the hell is the world coming too? IP, Jeru and Doh in the top 6??? Last weeks high score was a good sign that this team is ready to make some noise. But If I remember correctly he pulled off the same stunt last year, won during week 1 and then tanked. Also the matchups were in Doh’s favor during week 1. A win or a decent showing should land the kid some respect.

7. Restraining Order ^ (1-0/1-0) vs. BM 119ppg
Not the most impressive victory this week but decent production was put up by this RO squad. A solid game vs the Monkeys this week would give me a better idea where this team stands.

8. Haters ^ (1-0/1-0) vs. DB 122ppg
A long awaited victory vs the Dandies in week 1 helps a very solid Hater team. This week vs division mate Doh is going to be really tough if Doh’s production remains at the top of the charts. Haters has his work cut out for him.

9. Killa Cali ^ (0-1/0-1) vs. Hail 138PPG
A surprisingly decent game last week in the loss to Jeru. Helps KC jump from 12 to 9. Tough matchup this week in the Cane/Able Bowl vs. #1 Hail Mary.

10. Go Heels! v (0-1/0-1) vs. Jeru 113PPG
Injuries took their toll for the Heels last week but that Wayne trade turned out to be huge for the Heels. Tough matchup to land #1 during the first week. Even tougher to see # 4 in week two.

11. TrueSole v (0-1/0-1) vs. CO 111PPG
A winnable game gets away last week durning the Monday night games. Sole, last weeks #3 drops to 11 and has a decent shot to grab win #1 vs the Cocoon. Urlacher’s injury shouldn’t slow Sole down at all.

12. Cocoon of Horror ^ (0-1/0-10 VS. TS 122ppg
Cocoon meets up with Sole in what I guarantee you end up being an important game. I have a feeling the Kukini division will be an extremely close race and all of these division games will count. Cocoon holds the production advantage here but Sole’s roster is deep and is no joke.

13. The Agency ^ (0-1/0-1) vs. DD 111ppg
Out of the cellar and on the way up. This week he finds himself in a game vs Dandies which looks to be a decent matchup. Doh has already put some serious distance between the other Mowabbs so wins and point production is already very important.

14. Diaper Dandies v (0-1/0-1) vs. TA 106ppg
In the biggest let down yet, Dandies takes a tumble from 4 to 14. I know this team will have a big turnaround and we shouldn’t judge by one game. An important Mowabb matchup vs. The Agency looks like it could go either way.

15. Bengals v (0-1/0-1) vs. QS 95ppg
Point production is the biggest reason for another team with a ten point drop (#5 to 15). Im not sure if the Trojans put a damper on this kid’s whole season but you need to shake it off and get back to business. The team still has some weapons and he will not be at #15 for long.

16. QuasiMoFo’s v (0-1/0-1) vs. BG 95ppg
The 3rd team to drop 10 points this week and all the way to the bottom. If was another tough decision until I realized that he no longer had Chaz Schillens. How could I not put him at 16 since he no longer has the guy that is “a NFL team’s number 1 receiver, who also returns kicks and had a TD in each of his last two games last year”. Devastating blow to the Quasi franchise, time will only tell if he is able to recover. This week is vs. bitter rival Bengals. Oh and Merv wanted to point out that QuasiWahWah’s has taken the crybaby award away from Larry.

In what is a big game for Kukini and IP’s first ever time being chosen for the Game of the Week. This game should set the tone for the rest of their seasons.

Bottom two Presto’s and NFLLers meet up in what is always one of the most entertaining bouts every year. Matchup #1 will it be the Cats or the Unicorns?

Because somebody asked me to rank the divisions here is how I see them:

#1 Huarache
Four teams in the top 10, 2 of those in the top 4. With a team average of 132ppg. Plus they have 3 flasks and 5 championship appearances between them. Doubt me?
#2 Kukini
Buckeyes is ALWAYS dangerous, Sole and Cocoon compete for playoffs spots year after year and this is the best IP team there has ever been, take my word for it. Two teams in the top 5 in this weeks rankings as well.
#3 Presto
Last years champ and although it is early, in my humble opinion even though they are ranked 15 & 16, Quasi and Bengals are as dangerous as they come. After a year of learning the system, the RO seems to have it down as well. This will not be an easy division to win.
#4 Mowabb
Although it’s ranked #4 the division race should be close. I’m not fooled by Doh’s ppg in week 1. There is plenty of time and a lot of games to go.

- First some news- for those that are in pick the winner contest. You can start to vote at midnight on Thursday 9/10/09. You must vote a winner in every game. A missed vote counts as an incorrect vote. Each team must vote in 11 of the 13 weeks of the regular season. Lance will be scorekeeper again. Lance please keep the results as a percentage to the third decimal point. No rounding up this year. (ex 77.123 %).
- Also didnt get a chance to say this earlier Lance is the asst commish and Antoine will be #3 (the peoples choice in the voting). Toine if there is ever a trade with a cant cut list player between me and Lance you will decide.

1. $Hail-Mary$ - A successful draft in all areas, pretty impressive. Nothing too exciting but enough talent all-around. Decent bench The overall #1 consensus the night of the draft as well. In our league it is tough to have one team standout dramatically and this was a tough decision. Remember I have try not to go by speculation too much and take into account how they drafted and how deep their bench is as well. (Key Players: Forte,Romo, S Smith)

2. GO HEELS! – Again, another solid team, nothing crazy or over the top. A very good draft, great starting line-up and a solid trade to start the season. (Key Players: Westbrook, Wayne & Rodgers)

3. TrueSole – A solid draft with an excellent starting line-up, if the running game gets going, should have no trouble running things in the Kukini division. Only one question…is this the year? (Key Players: Brady, A Johnson, Addai)

4. Diaper Dandies – Most of you may say why is Dandies so high and the a few of you say why is Dandies ranked so low. This team does have some questionmarks but I think he has a great QB and an extremely talented RB group. Also this is one GM who knows how to win and has proven himself in this league. (Key Players: Rivers, Gore & S. Jackson)

5. Bengals – This may very well be one of the better Bengal teams we have seen in a few years. From my rankings he could fit in anywhere from 5-10. Should have no trouble this year from being a serious contender. (Key Players: Bowe, Turner & Portis)

6. QuasiMoFo’s – A great draft, and although some of you may question the depth or the WR spot on this team, I think his players have some great upside. (Key Players: Schaub, Moss & Bush)

7. Buckeyes – Again a very solid draft for the buckeyes, has he ever not had one? It must be easier drafting from home without the distractions…that must be it. Extremely tough division for the Buckeyes but this looks like another playoff team. (Key Players: LT, Barber & Ryan)

8. IndigoPalmsSucks - This was a decent draft. There was good value in all the rounds and the roster came out extremely balanced. Tough division this year and he definitely has the tools to compete. (Key Players: Mo Jones, McFadden and Ochocinco)

9. The RO – A roster with some big names. I thought Stalker did well in the draft and only time will tell if he deserves the top 10 ranking. (Key Players: Slaton, McNabb, Colston)

10. HaTeRs – Good all around team and great draft. HaTeRs is a team that has a good year, then bad, good then bad…this could be the sleeper pick. (Key Players: C Johnson, Hester & B Jacobs)

11. JERU (R.I.P.) – In my opinion this team could be a shocker, another team where if the players show up and come through for him he could have a decent season. What is working against him though is having the top 2 teams in the league in his division. (Key Players: AP, R White & C Palmer)

12. KILLA CALI – honestly just wasn’t happy with my draft and lack of depth on D hurt my rating. I wanted my name above a few teams I know I can beat though. LOL (Key Players: Manning, Boldin & K Smith)

13. Cocoon of Horror – Wasn’t trying to be silly or mean here but this team kept getting pushed lower and lower. Its not that this team is bad and when we play I know he will probably end up kickin my ass but what dropped him down a bit was that in the early rounds of the draft it just seemed to me like he took every player a round earlier than he should’ve gone. Now granted I am just speculating as much as he did on draft day because only time will tell. “Prove me wrong kids….Prove me wrong” –Seymore Skinner (Key Players: Warner, Housh & Gonzalez)

14. Doh!Boys – Hard to say if last year performance altered my judgement here. A decent draft with some questionmarks. Was a judgement call to place here at 15. Will no doubt be a fast mover up the charts if he is able to make some moves and prove me wrong early in the season. You gotta prove yourself to get respect in this league. And you are in the perfect division to go for broke in, It is hard to see a true clear front-runner in the Mowabb division. (Key Players: D Williams, Brees & R Grant)

15. Blind Monkeys – I am just not seeing a repeat this year. I worked on these rankings for over a week, looking at past stats, benches and starting lineups and after the dust cleared all I could say is if Favre ends up being the MVP, I will totally apologize for the #15. (Key Players: Favre, Fitzgerald & R Brown)

16. The Agency – Again, I just have to say it, somebody has to be here and this was not an easy decision. I just feel that there was some questionmarks and a slight lack of depth on this squad. The good news is that this team finds itself in the division that is the most open. If he can grab some wins early and win the division, he should be in great position for the post-season. (Key Players: Welker, Jennings & D Clark)

First I wanted to thank those that helped set-up and with the tear-down and clean up. Thanks Davy for helping with the furniture, Alo for taking care of the keg, Quasi thanks for the cleaning up the board, thanks to all the peeps that brought food and a special thank you to everybody who brought ice for the keg you guys didn't drink. A shout out to those who hung out (nqq) afterwards and help put a dent in that bad boy. Lesson learned though....next year I will get all of you pansies a case of yoo-hoo and some freakin juice boxes. I just hope you all enjoyed yourselves that was my number 1 goal.

The draft posted tonight. All available players will be on Waiver status immediately after. You can then start to place bids while they are on waiver status. After 48 hours, all players will be switched to Free Agent status.

Well the deadline has come and gone and I just wanted to thank everyone for getting all the dues in. Again, I know theres a deadline but the faster we get dues in, the faster I can prepare and get things ready. If anything send me a heads up of what package you are enrolling in, so I can budget better. Also you will receive the league ID and password as soon as your dues are in. OK, season VIII is underway and Im actually surprised to see this many moves so far. Keep it up! Can you believe we are only 39 days out???
Remember when you agree on the trade, I need to hear from both teams. Within 48 hours from there I will have the trade posted on the-flask. The trade is not approved until you see it posted. When you all are able to access the site you will get the notifications from yahoo that your player trades have been approved. Now here is some fun stuff for y'all, I know its a lot to read.
Yahoo league has made quite a few changes, most of them for the good. I would really like to take advantage of these updates because quite frankly it would seal the deal on making this the best league anybody has ever played in. I know a few of you are already aware of these changes but unfortunately I think I am only going to add the ones that won't alter the dynamics of the league. So for those looking to go to individual defensive positions, I dont think I want to add Def player depth to an already small roster. If I increase the roster size, I think some teams would take advantage and stockpile offensive players. However we may be able to utilize Injured reserve spots (more to follow). It looks as if we will be able to go back to having 4 divisions like the good ol days, so thats a plus. There would still be 2 conferences but give 2 more players a chance for some extra money on wining their divisions. Thinking about setting this up so u play ur division peeps twice, your conference peeps once and then another non-conference division. (like the nfl does). Thoughts on this would be appreciated. Also probably the greatest improvement of them all (I actually sent an email from our league last year requesting they add this), we can customize schedules...Means we can actually play everyone in our division and guarantee a game against your rival. However this may alter the bounties as there wouldnt be too many chances this year. To top it off, we can set it up to have a rivalry week to set up a custom tradition. I would also like to start using team budgets, so if I think the waivers would be better suited with a dollar value we would add that (Very possible, this would start this year.) So as soon as I learn the details I will post my decision. League site would be finalized by early next week...after I start receiving dues, which leads to the next topic.

Silver $115 all the above PLUS a 23rd round draft pick
Gold $125 all the above PLUS entry to the "pick the winner" contest

Q:When is the money due and how much is it?
A: August 15, smallest package is $110 (NQQ). Thats 3 weeks from today, so I know theres a payday in there somewhere for you guys. And for matters like this, if you see other league members please let them know.

Q: I can't afford it can I get a extension?
A: F*CK NO. August 15th no exceptions.

Q: Can I pay on draft day?
A: See above.

Q: Can I pay half now, half later?
A: See above the one above.

Q: Ok what happens if I miss the deadline and I don't pay?

OK the 2009 season is just about to get underway. July 1st will open all trades and officially start the season. Here goes:

Trades - If two teams agree then its a done deal. The only time the commish will step in will be for trades involving "Yahoo! Can't Cut list players".

Q: So if I want to trade my first round draft pick for a 8 x 10 picture of Doughboy, I can?
A: Yes, that is a done deal. You might be called a dumbass but that trade will go through. We all paid enough and know what we are doing. I trust you all are responsible enough to make trades that benefit both sides.

Q: If I trade a 1st round pick, and it ends up being a cant cut list player. Is the trade revoked?
A: No, the trade was for the pick, not the player.

Q: So any trade that involves a cant cut list player will be vetoed by the commish?
A: No sir. It will be decided on the same factor as previous years to see if the trade is fair and benefits both sides. Any trade that involves a cant cut list player and the commish, will be decided by the asst. commish.

Q: So what if 2 teams are making shady deals? And we think bad trades are going through.
A: That's easy. I will lock the teams involved if I feel anything suspect is going on. Trades should be for all involved players involved all at once and not be broken into smaller deals to get around the cant cut list or the commish. All teams, players and picks involved should also be mentioned at the time of the deal and not after the fact. Please recognize that although there will be greater freedom this year I will be keeping a closer eye on what is going on. The trade deadline will also be about a 30 days earlier this year.

Entry- As of today 6/25/09, the entry will be $115. I am trying to work out a way to decrease this a little bit. So more to follow.

Q: What exactly does this cover? $115 is too much!
A: Covers your dues, the costs for flasks, the sidepots (hi scores & division champs), the bounty ($20 prize for whoopin' blind munkee) and of course the pot. It will also be enough to cover the draft party food and a keg. Again as I get prices this could drop a little.

Q: What doesn't this cover?
A: This will not cover the $10 buy-n for the "pick the winner" contest. This also will not cover the optional 23 round draft choice. But for all the regular purpose of the league you can show up draft day with everything you need to play covered.

The Draft - Saturday, August 29th 2009 1:00pm (tentative start time)

Q: Where will it be held? Did you get a hotel suite?
A: As of today it looks like it will be at NFLL headquarters. No, unfortunately we will not be getting a hotel suite. After looking into a large enough room it would run each team around an extra $40 just for the room. A suite would be the only option I would consider since I am not trying to sit around on a queen sized bed with 16 dudes. Ain't gonna happen. And don't worry we wont be in the garage again.

Q: Do I have to bring food or drinks for the draft?
A: No, unless you want to. But a portion of your buy-in will be for food, drinks and the keg.

Q: If I don't eat or drink, or I won't be there, will that make my buy-in cheaper?
A: No everybody will pay the same amount. Even those that will not be attending the draft. Again I am trying to make easy for everybody with the idea that all you have to do is show-up.

Conferences - The conferences went through a slight change. To balance out the league a bit a few teams may get shuffled around still. I believe this may help each conference as well as help with rivalries and grudges.

Jumpman- DD,TA,DB, BM,BG,H8,QS and RO

Other stuff:

Q: How much is the pot?
A: It will be at least $700.

Q: If I want to trade picks, how do I do that now?
A: You can work any deal but the official date for trades is JULY 1st. Both sides have to let me know when a trade is accepted for it to go through. The sooner the better...trades are on my time and will not be rushed. 48 hours tops.

Q:Do I have to attend the draft? Why?
A: No but you should absolutely try. There is no guarantee if you do not attend that you will be able to do your draft by computer. Which means you take what yahoo gives you. Quite frankly, the league is hard enough that it takes 100% concentration during the draft. Nobody wants to do their draft and then work on somebody else's. I know, I know diiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiick but its the truth. You should be there, its your team not ours.

VSOP

I think there is a little confusion out there about the vsop points. So here it goes again. Any tournament gets you points in the order you finish. 8 people in a tourney...8pts for 1st, 7 for 2nd, 6 for 3rd and so on... Cash games - All attendees get 1 point. So bottom line if you want to earn points, you need to enter more tourneys.
Q: Bracelet events are worth more points? Or are only bracelet events worth points?
A: No there is no difference between points and bracelet events. All tourneys are worth the same. The difference is in the bracelet event you win a bracelet/vsop chip. Looks like people are not showing up when it is not a "bracelet event" and you are missing out on points. The event is classified as bracelet even when Merv, Myke and Alo give the Ok to issue a bracelet to the winner. The bracelet events have a set blind schedule, rules and prize amounts, whereas during a tourney the house can make its own rules, denoms and buyins and payouts. Remember as long as you get into tourneys you will earn points.

Ron Hubbard, and the Easter Bunny and they all were unanimous in their guidance. I must become the 8th seed in the playoffs and destroy all that is evil. The most sinister of the Molina Clan, Killa Cali. (pause for dramatic effect). This came to me 1/4 of a fortnight ago, when I walked outside and there was a blownup Mercedes in front of my house. There was a war a'brewin' on Bellefonte Street. Trade idea that I've been thinking about that I hope will solve our whole trade dilemma. Both sides of the trade will have to pay a fee to make a trade go through. What if we have everyone set up a paypal account and once the fees are paid by both sides the trade will be passed. We can still set up the commish to step in where trades involve the "Can't cut list". This way I figure both teams need to be serious about the trade if they are willing to pay. And the fees would have to have to come from each individuals paypals account.

Mitch takes down the 3rd annual main event to claim bragging rights, the bracelet, the '09 chip and $220 (minus Ian's share of course). Davy who took the chip lead early battled it out and finished 2nd to claim the 2nd place prize. The rest of the field finished in the following order: Myke,Alo, Merv, Jim, Toine, and Jordan. The 2009 points have been updated. Those that showed to participate in the cash game were credited as well. Big shout out to Burd for dealing the event, it really helped the event go smoothly. Rumor is maybe another game this Thursday (4/2/09) @ Mike G's place? I dont have any other details, so somebody clue me in so I can post it. Small possibility Sat April 11th will be the next event @ my place, stay tuned for details.

Ok, 5 days left…I hope you lucky 8 are ready. If not I prepared a checklist for you:

1.)Bring $50… OK geniuses, please don’t bring three $20 bills. We need change…take the time to bring some 10’s and 5’s. Don’t need 8 yahoos showing up and nobody being able to pay the right amount.

2.) Bring an extra $5…If Jim’s boy Burd deals for us, bring like an extra $5 to tip him. Don’t be cheap…if you cant afford it (recession and all),that’s OK but let me know ahead of time.

3.)There will be a cash game afterwards. If you want to play by all means bring extra money, again small bills would be a good idea. It will be No limit, table stakes, probably dealers choice.

4.) If you’re drinking, bring your own Booze .

5.) Food, eat before you come. I’m trying to win, and will not be taking a “time-out” to order pizza. If somebody wants to be nice and bring something to share, then that is awesome. Otherwise, all I will be providing is bottled water.

6.)Make sure you call me for directions ahead of time. The new place is about 5 minutes away from the old.

So who is ready? 18 days to go till we see the winner of the biggest cash pot in VSOP history.
Here are the details:
Saturday, March 28th 6:00pm @ Myke's house (the new one, call me for directions) .
$50 buy-in (Top 3 places get paid: $220 for 1st, $120 for 2nd and $60 for 3rd)
It is possible that there may be a cash game (bring extra cash) after the tournament, however it is a closed event. So only the top 8 would be allowed to attend. And as of today, the final 8 in the standings are:
Myke, Antoine, Merv, Jim, Alo, Davy, Jordan and taking Ian's spot will be Mitch.
Its BYOB and food.
The clock starts @ 6:00pm sharp, if you aren't there on time we will start blinding you out.
*** This means for people like Antoine you need to be in your chair at 6 o'clock...Mitch it is like 1000 miles from your house so you better leave your place around noon.

Tentative draft date cannot be decided until NFL releases its preseason schedule. We usually hold it the Saturday during week 3 of the preseason. I know there are a few of you looking at plane tickets already so my best guess would be Aug. 22nd.

Just gonna answer some questions about the main event. Yes it is $50, and that will get you 20,000 in chips. Yes you will earn points for the main event. It is a closed event by invite only. Only the top 8 are invited to participate.

NO Quasi, you dont get points for playing with your son...or Merv would have a million points. (OK bad joke)

2009 NFLL Draft Order

Inside NFLL headquarters behind barbed wire, with a ninja on the roof, a sentry posted at the front door with an automatic weapon holding the leash of a vicious guard dog named Cali; the lottery for the 2009 draft took place. It was ran on www.random.org, one time only, there was no test-run, no do-overs, no second chances and no fudging of the numbers. I guarantee no bribes were taken, no family relatives or best buds were given any differential treatment.

All in all,I got to say this turned out to be pretty funny. It was extremely surprising watching the #1 and #2 picks just keep falling and falling (spoiler?) until they went back to back (another spoiler?). Like last year, all your draft picks will be posted on the site (hopefully by next week?). For those of you that made trades for '09 picks don't worry those will be posted as well.

OK, the moment you have all been waiting for...

#16 GO HEELS! you would think drawing a number at #10 wouldn't leave a lot of options but at her draw...#'s 1,2,6,11,15 & 16 were remaining. In '08 she drafted #1 at the front and now this year the total opposite as she will go #16 at the turn.

#15 Haters - Haters drawing at #15, Haters was the last team to draw and wouldnt you know it...with 2 options remaining...#15 or #6...Haters gets the shaft and draws #15. Even funnier is that Haters was team #15 to draw...he drew #15 and was #15 last year. Hmmmmmm

#14 Quasimofo's - The first team in the top 6 draws to actually land a pick out of the top 10.

#13 TrueSole - Again with five #'s left to draw and three picks in the top 6, Sole is unable to get lucky.

#12 Cocoon of Horror - Only 2 teams that made playoffs were unable to land a pick in the top 10. Quasi was the first, Red veto button of Horror is the 2nd.

#11 Restraining Order - Jay Cutler at #11 this year??? It's possible.

#10 The Agency - The Agency improves from #11 in '08 to #10 in '09.

#9 Buckeyes - For the 2nd year in a row Buckeyes lands the #9 overall pick.

#8 Bengals - The first team ever in the NFLL history to have 2 first round picks in '08 catches another break to land #8 in the '09 draft.

#7 Blind Monkeys - With the first draw in the lottery, Monkeys gets a prime spot at#7.

#6 Doughboys - This was surprising but you have nobody to thank but Haters bad luck. Haters had a 50/50 shot of landing #6 or #15...

#5 $Hail-Mary$ - It is extremely bad news for the NFLL when Mary lands a top 5 pick.

#4 Diaper Dandies - You thought it was bad news with Hail at #5??? Dandies took home the flask last time he drafted at #4...ponder that.

#3 Killa Cali - The runner-up scores a top 3 pick? Let the crying start in 3...2...1...

#2 IndigoPalmsSucks - In what had to be one of the biggest longshots to land a top 3 pick. IP drawing at #13 grabs the #2 overall pick.

#1 JERU (R.I.P.) - OK, so what the hell were the odds of this happening? Drawing at #12 thanks to Outlaws '08 GM skills, Jeru breaks all the odds and lands the #1 overall pick in the 2009 draft? Get this, in 8 years this is the 3rd time that Jeru has landed the #1 overall pick...good news for the NFLL though...Jeru never made the playoffs when he held the #1 pick.

***Breaking news...an inside source of The Agency organization reveals information that the team's GM watches "The View".

2009 Draft Order

Ok the draft order will be chosen randomly on Saturday. Since we could not get everyone together seeing how we have teams in Hawaii, Idaho, Nevada, Michigan and Maryland I will be using a random list/number generator, from www.random.org. Teams will have a random draft order chosen in the order of finish. Once a selection has been chosen it will be taken out of the generator. Again after going back and forth on different methods this gives everyone a chance for a top pick but gives those that finished higher in the playoffs a slightly better chance. Once chosen the results are final and I will post them...you guessed it...during halftime of the superbowl. The selections will be made in the following order:

NFLL SEASON VII CHAMPIONSHIP (Killa Cali vs. Blind Monkeys)

#1 KILLA CALI (13-2) vs. #2 BLIND MONKEYS (11-4) This marks the 3^rd time the #1 & #2 seeds have faced for the title. The #1 seed is 1-1 all-time vs. #2’s. The #1 seed is 4-1 all-time in championship games where the #2 seed is 1-1 all time. Monkeys is now 2-0 all-time in the post season as his team advances to the title game in only the 2^nd year of the teams existence. Monkeys may have possibly had 1 of the biggest upsets in the league after defeating #3 Hail-Mary who was the people’s choice for bringing home the 2008 flask. Their first ever meeting was definitely one for the record books as it was one of the highest scoring semi-final games in the history of the NFLL. The underdog #2 seed has proved everyone wrong this year and time and again has beat out all challengers and all the criticism. The #2 seed that nobody wanted and doubted has overcome all odds and proved that he belongs in championship. With this weeks match-up vs. Killa marks only the second time these two have ever faced off. Coincidently Monkeys was the last team to beat Killa (week #4 142-122). Killa is 2-0 all time in title games and is currently riding an 11 game winning streak. It looks as if match-ups will be the deciding factor this week as the 2 teams have similar strengths and weaknesses. Killa has had Drew Brees running the passing game all year for an impressive 27ppg. Because of the Patriots push for a post-season spot, Cassel has been posting decent numbers in recent weeks as well. While each teams both have a true #1 RB’s with KC’s Mo Jones Drew and BM’s Adrian Peterson, the numbers this week may be very similar. However the supporting cast of RB’s seem to be sharing time and counting on points during the special teams. Within recent weeks the edge for the WR’s would definitely lean toward KC as Bryant, Boldin and Johnson have proven to be quite a formidable trio. Monkeys has come to rely on Berrian, Jackson and rookie sensation Donnie Avery. Kicking game is somewhat similar as well with maybe a slight edge to BM’s Reed. The real true strengths of each team is their defensive starting 6, with the Monkeys 48ppg and Killa’s starters averaging 49ppg. If one of these teams defenses can put up over 60, it may be enough of an edge if the rest of the team performs sub-par. Needless to say it has been a long season, and after fighting through a tough other 14 teams (well…maybe 12, haters and Doughboys don’t count) both of these teams outright won their divisions, played through injuries; traded and played the FA market as best they could and dominated in the postseason and have definitely earned the right to be there. Congrats Munkee.

Separate news- I was asked by a two teams why the FA market closes at the end of the regular season. This is how I see it. To have a true champ, the team needs to succeed through 3 stages…

1. 1) The pre-season & draft, the team needs to prepare for its season by selecting the correct personnel to give the teams the best chance of success, regardless of draft position. A team must know when or how to address each team need, be aware of other team’s choices, know about selections remaining, rookies, sleepers, and be willing to trade and prepare to change draft position.

2. 2) The Season, the team needs to win first of all, but have the ability to trade and play the Free Agent market to address team’s weaknesses and injuries. A team must know how to trade and deal picks so that it provides them the best chance of success. A team must know how and when “to play” or “not to play” certain players so that NFL matchups provide an edge in scoring. A team that is aware of other team’s injuries or weaknesses as well as their own should be able to work out a deal that is beneficial to both sides and still allows them a chance to be more successful.

3) The Post-season, after 13 weeks your team should already be ready to win in the post-season. Your team’s starters should have already been set, injuries and depth concerns should have already been addressed. An injury can happen at any time but it is the GM’s job to make sure there is a Plan B or back-up if that is the case. The team that got you into the playoffs, is the team that should be able to win it for you. Past years have shown that bubble teams that barely enter the playoffs have holes or weaknesses that allowed them to have such a low seeding; and although upsets can happen no seed lower than a #4 has ever won the flask.

Congrats to the Final Four, it has been a long season and you deserve the props. THIS HAS BY FAR BEEN THE CLOSEST MOST COMPETITIVE YEAR THIS LEAGUE HAS EVER SEEN...I dare somebody to tell me different. So seriously congrats on making it this far.

The MNF game meant so much to the first round games and it ended up being good for the league. Hopefully this week sees the same type of results. There is a consolation bracket so do not give up! How you finish out in the playoffs could effect next years draft pick. So play out the season...PLAY TO WIN (ask Quasi what happens if you dont).

Let's look at the matchups.

#1 KILLA CALI (12-2) vs. #4 BUCKEYES (11-3) This game has the makings of the championship right here. Buckeyes on a 7 game winning streak and Killa riding a 10 game streak. Buckeyes looking to redeem himself from the week 6 loss (156-142) that ending up being quite the high scoring affair which shows how these teams can really put up the numbers. Buckeyes coming off a solid effort vs. Cocoon last week putting up 135 with a lot of help from Peyton Mannings bid day...with the Colts vs. Detroit this week we could see big numbers for Peyton again. Killa came out and made a statement vs. Quasi last week with the "Monday Nite Miracle"..nah how bout the "Monday nite Manifesto Meltdown"? It was the first match-up between the two teams and it was pretty exciting to watch until the 2nd half. Jim brought up a good point on how important the week 13 games were as if some teams would've won that last game and grabbed a better seed it looks like they may have advanced to the semi's. This game marks the 2nd time these two have met in the semi's (Buckeyes won in '03). This is Killa's 5th trip to semi's (2-2 all-time) and Buckeyes makes his 3rd appearance (1-1 all-time).

#2 BLIND MONKEYS (10-4) vs. #3 $HAIL-MARY$ (11-3)
This monkey hears no evil, speaks no evil and sees no competition. The Monkey again finds a way to win, as he drives all his opponents absolutely bananas. Monkeys will really need to put up some serious points this week facing the #1 scoring team. Monkeys has had 3 games this year of scoring over 140 but he will really have his work cut out for him this week as Mary is averaging 155 ppg. Last weeks win vs. Bengals was Monkeys first win in the playoffs as he drops Bengals to 0-2 all-time in the post-season. This is the 1st matchup between these two teams this season but Monkeys holds the advantage all-time (1-0) (week 3 '07, 171-111 ). This is Hail's 3rd trip to the semi's (1-1 all-time) and he looks to have the advantage in personnel and in matchups this week. Hail looks to be the favorite to win this thing (also the poll favorite, 36% of the votes). He posted a 183 with Barber and Winslow on the bench, so there is no telling what this team is capable of.

#6 Diaper Dandies (9-5) vs. #7 Bengals (8-6)
In consolation games the #7 and #8 are both 3-2 all-time. The #6 is 1-2 and the #5 is 1-3 all-time.

NFLL Fun Facts
- This is the 1st time in NFLL history that the top 4 seeds have advanced to the semi's.
- None of the 4 teams that made the semi's last year advanced this year.
- The trend continues as there has never been a back-to-back champion.

Other news and notes:
- I need a date that you guys want to meet for the flask presentation. New Years eve is always cool like we've done in the past but I think its going to be hard to get everyone together that night. Maybe week #17 we can meet somewhere or maybe somebody wants to host? Just an idea, its not really necessary just trying to find out what you want to do.
- I'm counting on everybody being back for next year. I know there are set backs and arguments every year but again...we learn and adjust for next year. So I encourage you all to stay in the league and provide ideas that can help the league be better. I know that trades are still a problem so please contribute some feedback.
- Jeru will be back next year to run JERU (RIP) so Outlaw if you want the Nutz franchise its yours, just let me know. And don't worry you can change the name. I know Outlaw never sees this site so if somebody can let him know.

Playoffs have begun!

Congrats to the elite 8. It has been a long season and you all deserve it. To the rest I will see you in August for the next draft. For those that are out of state you may want to start saving up for the trip out here. The yahoo site has a post of all the prizes everybody has won. Also the pick the winner contest is over, congrats to Buckeyes for winning it all in the final week. The final results are posted on the right.

Playoff Matchups

#1 KILLA CALI (11-2) vs. #8 Quasimofo's (8-5)
Ok the good news for KC is that the #1 seed is 5-1 in first round games. The bad news is this is a very tough matchup for the first round. Two weeks ago Quasi was the #2 seed and tops in Jumpman. Matchups look good for both squads and this will definately be a high scoring shoot-out. The betting man should take the over as this looks to go way over 300. This is the first ever matchup for these 2 teams in what is already being called the battle for Bellefonte. Quasi riding a 2 game losing streak and KC on a 9 game winning streak...however unless the winning streak extends to 12 it doesnt mean a damn thing.

#4 Buckeyes (10-3) vs. #5 Cocoon of Horror (9-4)
Two of the most solid teams in the NFLL are again back in the playoffs. Both looking to return their teams to greatness. Both teams getting hot at the right time as they are both 6-1 in the last 7 weeks. Cocoon won the first matchup in week 7 (133-107). However that seems like forever ago. The last time these 2 teams met in the playoffs was in the 2006 3rd place game when #3 Buckeyes beat #8 Cocoon.

#3 $Hail-Mary$ (10-3) vs. #6 Diaper Dandies (9-4)
The Swoosh division showing its dominance as it places 4 of the top 5 seeds into the playoffs. A lot of the Haters out there that believe Hail should be the #1 seed. Hail is the #1 scoring team in the league with a 153 ppg avg. and is 6-1 over the past 7 weeks. These two met in week 10 when Hail came out with a 183-142 victory. The defending champ is 5-2 over the 2nd half of the season but will have his work cut for him. Again this is not a normal #3 vs. #6 game as both these teams are extremely talented.

#2 Blind Monkeys (9-4) vs. #7 Bengals (8-5)
The surprise team of the year cruises to a division championship and a #2 seed. However this looks like an upset in the making as the Bengals are the #3 scoring team (138 ppg). The bengals finally handled their business as they went 5-2 in the last 7 weeks when it counted most. Not only did they make the playoffs but they skipped up to the #7 seed. The Monkeys make their first ever playoff appearance and have a win over the Bengals in week 9 (117-111). The lil monkeys have been a real "up n down" team all year. They arent flashy or high-scoring but they seem to always find a way to win. The Bengals make their 2nd consecutive playoff appearance ('07 #5 seed)and are looking for their 1st ever post-season win.

- The lowest seed to ever win the flask was #4 $Hail-Mary$ in '06.

2009 draft selection process

Ok the draft order will be chosen randomly. After the season, on the day that we have the flask presentation, each team will randomly draw from a hat. The teams however will not know their pick number until all 16 teams have drawn, then the picks will be announced from 16-1. The first team to draw will be the champ. The other teams will draw in order of playoff finish(runner-up, then 3rd place, 4th, etc...) then the 8 non-playoff teams will draw in order of regular season finish. All teams are encouraged to finish out their seasons as best as possible to move up in the drawing order. Even though the first to draw has the best opportunity (only 6.25%, but #1 pick is guaranteed to be in there) to draw the #1 overall pick, they will also have the highest percentage (93.75%) chance of NOT drawing the #1 pick. I know some of you were fans of doing the draft order in place of finish but that system should be kept to keeper leagues. Horrible teams (see HaTeRs) need to draft first because they need more help. In this league where we are drafting brand new rosters every year, I cant see why we would give teams with a bad year a better opportunity at premier players. If it is a new team every year than all teams should start the season with a level playing field. I feel this is a truly random system that does not give a significant edge to any team. I ran the #'s and it looks as if after each team draws and the #1 spot is not drawn, the next team's chances increases by less than 1.5% to draw #1.

Power Rankings (Week 12) - Poker Nite Thurs!!!

Hey all. Anybody interested in playin some cards and drinking some beer on Thursday night? This is not an bracelet event and it is not a tournament. All for fun. Dealers choice cash game. We can keep it cheap...we can play for nickles or dimes or quarters. I dont care its all for fun so bring your change (yes pennies and pesos too!) and lets have a sit down. Sounds like this group can use some beers.

I also want to see how many of you are down for a fishing trip to lake mead. It cost less than $20 and we are usually home by 1pm. I think it would be hilarious to get a bunch of us out there.

Power Rankings
1. -- KILLA CALI (9-2/7-1) (153 ppg) (hi score 186.8) Barring any mistakes Cali should be locking up the division title. Even with a loss a top 3 seed is guaranteed. Rematch vs. Nutz in week 12 and IP in 13 extremely favorable.
2. -- $Hail-Mary$ (8-3/6-2) (152 ppg) (Bounty in week 11) Win vs. Nutz last week was helpful keeping this powerhouse near the top. A chance for redemption this week as BAD BLOOD BOWL II is up next. This matchup is always close but a revitalized Mary offense should have no trouble taking out the Cocoon.
3. -- Quasimofo's (8-3/7-1) (127 ppg) (Bounty in week #6) Another very close call against the Bengals. Couldnt have come at a better time either. The race is close in both divisions and the #2 seed is a very good place to be right now. IP up this week may be nice practice for a week 13 matchup vs. Buckeyes.
4. ^ Diaper Dandies (8-3/7-1) (125 ppg) The Dandies starting to look like the powerhouse of 2007. 10-3 record looks possible with Monkeys going through a rough stretch and Sole in week 13. Dandies is also the leader in the pick the winner contest with only 2 weeks to go. With a 73.9% pick percentage he looks to be unstoppable. Good Job Toine. Oh and sorry Monkeys only the first matchup vs. Dandies is eligible for the bounty.
5. v Blind Monkeys (8-3/6-2) (123 ppg) Monkeys got REAL lucky this past week winning a squeaker vs. the agency while only scoring 104. That trick wont work this week with Dandies looking to claim the #2 seed. A dip in production and a losing streak at the end of the season, could drive this lil monkey bananas.
6. -- Buckeyes (8-3/5-3) (129 ppg) (Bounty in week #4) With Sole and Quasi in the next 2 weeks, it wont be an easy road into the playoffs and every single win counts right now. Currently holds the #4 seed but most think #4 or #5 is irrellevant seeing how they play each other anyway. In any tie breaker the bucks should be in good shape as they have the 4th highest point total in the league.
7. ^ Cocoon of Horror (8-3/5-3) (124 ppg) Looking real good right now (NQQ) with a 5 game winning streak going. Very tough game this week vs. Hail. And with Agency still in the hunt, week 13 could prove to be a very important game as well. The good news is Cocoon playoff hopes should be safe but his seeding could be up in the air.
8. v Bengals (6-5/5-3) (137 ppg) Forget the tiger stripes on the helmet...put a giant target. With Sole and Agency chasing the last seed for the playoffs, this is no time for mistakes. 1-2 in the last 3 games is really putting his squad in jeopardy of missing the playoffs. The biggest game of the year for him may just be this week as the football gods put him in a do or die matchup vs. The agency. And now that Go Heels seems to be putting up better points week 13 may not be any easier. Bottom line win and your in.
9. -- The Agency (5-6/4-4) (121 ppg) With the playoffs just within grasp The Agency keeps digging himself in a hole. Riding a 3 game losing streak when it matters most. The fate of the season is riding on this do or die game this week vs. The bengals. With the point total over Sole in his favor all he needs to do is win this week. A loss here gives Bengals a 2 game lead in the race for the 8 seed.
10. ^ TrueSole (5-6/3-5) (118 ppg) Still mathmatically in it. Needs some help from the Agency and needs to win out. Only 40 points down from the Agency. A bengal win this week would be the end of the Sole's season. How costly was that loss to Haters? To go 1-4 in the past 5 games and still have a chance for the post season though shows how close this league really is.

Although the playoffs are still weeks away, it looks as if the magic # is 9. Mathmatically it is still very possible that a 8 win team or even teams will make it, A team with 9 wins should have a guaranteed trip to the post-season. Oh and next years draft order is not a rumor…it will be random.

2) -- KILLA CALI (6-2 / 5-1) (148 ppg) (Season High 186.80) Absolutely annihilated Sole by 62.75 last week in the S&B bowl…sorry Alo had to say it. You do have to admit 62.75 points is a lot…I mean I could’ve benched my TE,K, DL,DL,DB,DB,D and D and still won the game…that’s how big a deficit 62.75 points is. For reals I’ll quit sayin 62.75, I know it probably pisses you off. I mean to everyone reading this wouldn’t it piss you off if you got beat by 62.75? (Preseason #6)

Jump division is still up for grabs and this game is huge for division title and playoff contention. However a loss for Quasi here looks to be more damaging to his post-season hopes.

Good news is IP has a shot to grab his first win here. HaTteRs can shut-up the haters grabbing win #2 here. Bad news is that nobody really cares who the hell wins this game. My prediction is this freakin game probably ends in a tie

Here is my 2 cents on the league right now though….Top team in Jumpman wouldn’t even be in the top 4 in Swoosh. If the playoffs started today, the 2nd highest scoring team, Bengals with 140 ppg. would be out of the playoffs. Monkeys are still the hottest team winning 4 in a row, Doughboys the coldest now losing 4 in a row. Im a little torn for IP…I mean I want to see him get a win but the league has never had anybody lose every game.

2 -- Diaper Dandies (4-1/3-0) (132 ppg) Tops in the Jumpman division…Dandies is proving he belongs in this league. Don’t be surprised if he gets the call to join Swoosh next year.

3 ^ $Hail-Mary$ (3-2/2-1) (134 ppg) Puts up 158 without a QB and in doing so pretty much crushed all chances of IP making the playoffs. Another important game this week vs. Jeru.

4 ^ KILLA CALI (3-2 / 2-1) (144 ppg) (Season High 186.80) Thanks to big Monday night game Cali edges out Bengals in the 4th quarter. Cali has a chance to take the division lead with a win vs. Buckeyes this week.

5 v Bengals (2-3 / 1-2) (133 ppg) Even with the loss Bengals still finds himself in the middle of the pack in Jumpman. Doughboys isn’t going to have an easy week facing the 3rd highest scoring team in the league.

6 v Quasimofo’s (3-2/3-0) (118 ppg) Scoring average is keeping Quasi out of the top 5. Big game this week as every team in the division is looking for Quasi to upset Dandies.

7 ^ Jeru (R.I.P) (3-2 / 2-1) (126 ppg) Unable to take advantage of a low scoring Dandies team last week, but losses by The Agency and Sole push Jeru into the top eight.

8 ^ Blind Monkeys (3-2/ 1-2) (124 ppg) Playing like a whole new team, the biggest jump in the rankings this week is by the Monkeys who are riding a 3 game win streak and 131 ppg avg over those 3 weeks.

9 ^ Cocoon of Horror (3-2 / 1-2) (120 ppg) With wins vs. Quasimofo and Hail do not take the Cocoon too lightly, he is still a serious contender. Matchup this week seems favorable as Heels is unable to catch a break lately.

10 TIE v TrueSole (3-2 / 2-1) (128 ppg) The up and down season continues for Sole who is unable to capitalize against the lowly HaTeRs. In what should’ve been an easy schedule now has Sole going up against the revamped Nut squad in the battle of 1689.
10 TIE v The Agency (3-2 / 2-1) (130 ppg) Disappointing loss vs. the Nutz has last weeks biggest mover as this weeks biggest loser. However the division is so close that a win this week and some Quasi MoJo can give the Agency the divison lead and could cause HaTeRs to win out the rest of the season to have a shot for the playoffs.

12 ^ D’s Nutz (2-3 / 0-3) (109 ppg) WOW quite the turnaround over the past 2 weeks and a chance to slide right back into the race with a division win this week vs. Sole.

13 v GO HEELS! (1-4 / 1-2) (122 ppg) Heels just can’t seem to put it all together as she is on a 4 game skid. Good chance to end the streak here as Cocoon and Heels are similar in scoring.

14 ^ HaTeRs (1-4 / 0-3) (104 ppg) Last weeks win has to feel good as nobody wants to be winless in this league. HaTeRs will not be able to let up as he needs to put a win streak together or the season may be all but over.

15 v DOH! Boys (2-3 / 2-1) (98 ppg) If there was a ranking for 15 ½ he would have it…team looks like a total disaster. The next 5 weeks looks like more bad news for the boys. You are going to have to make a real effort to keep your team in this league…the leagues worst ppg average and 5 inactive players last week???

16 -- IndigoPalmsSucks (0-5 / 0-3) (109 ppg) This was a tough call to put IP again at the bottom…I think if he were to play Doughboys again it would be an ass whoopin’. IP looks like he is improving however the next 3 weeks looks really tough, I won’t be surprised if IP starts off 0-8.

On a side note, I want to wish you and the new Mrs. Buckeyes a big congratulations for your wedding this weekend...in lieu of a wedding gift you can enjoy your #1 ranking. Congrats again.
