This is not a keeper league...The reason I stated that was to get the true feelings of the people that were saying yes and no. A way to get the positive and negative input on why they felt that way....and some of the answers I got were "F****** Stupid", "F****** Boring", and "I dont like it". Now, one can argue that these were extremely compelling arguments that helped me out so much (That was sarcasm by the way). From my point of view I need to look out for the best of the league and keeping one player does not help the NFLL. Teams at the top of the draft are FOR the Keeping of one player, teams at the botton are against. Why wouldnt they? Its a chance to lock up players like Brady or LT for multiple years. I totally agree with the other side of the draft as well, almost as if the inferior teams last year are benefiting more than once. Now, I can't let you keep any player unless it counts against your first round pick. All teams are going to keep a first round caliber player...again why wouldnt they? If they don't...then whats the point? Does it help the league to keep #2 WR's, TE's or Kickers? If its not a keeper the chances of you grabbing that player again next year are probably pretty good. So in essence I have to protect the integrity by charging them a 1st rounder next year. Now again I see another problem, what happens if the #1 pick this year does poor again next year? They now have the 2 top players before the season starts. How many people do you thing is going to bitch about that? No matter what route we go there is always going to be some question of doubt. The year we did franchise, that was just defense and it cost the team an 8th round pick because that was the average position that most teams chose thier first defensive player. So I can argue that was equal to their 1-2nd rounder for a defensive player. When the time came, only 3 teams chose to participate...its just not worth the effort. The reason I feel a total keeper is OK is because it is up to you to see how your team perfoms. The strategy is there for you to figure out to have a well balanced team, to see what direction you want to go in...win now or win later. The players could be put on rotating contracts so they become available every few years. However, it doesnt matter, the NFLL is not a Keeper league, not in any form. Not now...not ever.
ONCE AGAIN...EVERYBODY JUST COOL OUT...IT IS NOT A KEEPER LEAGUE. The greatest Commish of all time would not spring that on you 2 weeks before the draft. Special shot out to Dandies to actually answer and provide input, it was appreciated.

13 days until the draft... Will there be any penalties for people who don't show up (unless they've already worked out with you) I know you're still working on location and time so I'll wait until you post something
Good Question...No there are no penalties for people who don't show up. A team that is not represented at the draft has 3 options...1)They can have their team drafted by the yahoo default list 2)Give another GM or myself a list of the players(this can be set up on the yahoo site by pre-ranking players and printing it out), 3) Give control to another GM to make their draft day decisions for them. ***Please note if a team decides to go with the default list format(The roster will be chosen by "best available" until thier 15 starters are chosen...They will not be able to draft a player for thier bench till round 16.
As for the details it will be Saturday Aug. 23rd at my house with the expected start time between 1-3pm(exact time is TBA).
Like last year I will post a sign-up on the site for the odd jobs (timer, draft board) and the food (pizza, ice guys). It will be first come first serve. That will be posted no later than Saturday 8/16. Sorry no reservations till its posted...you can however sign in now if you plan on attending. I believe I am expecting as least 11.
