Trade Deadline has passed.

NFLL
The offseason trade deadline has passed. Trades will be allowed again when the preseason starts on draft day 08/23/08. With about 3 weeks till the draft, time to focus. I am still running numbers on quartback production...if the stats do change it will still be lower than last year but probably not as low as they are set now. To answer a few of the questions out there, the reason we do not use the WR/TE posistion is because in our scoring, a TE would not be productive enough to warrant a 2nd roster position (Only the top 11 TE's averaged more than 6 points a game), and teams would be looking to start 4 WR each...take into account 1-2 WR for each teams bench, we then have 96 WR filling up roster spaces. I cant see using 6 of the 25 roster spaces for WR. In the current format, it does put pressure on teams acquiring RB's but the average amount of RB's per roster last year was less than 4. With the amount of WR's available in the current format it alleviates the need for a team to have to stockpile RB's. Please if you have questions or want other options, you have to let me know...preferably in the offseason, not 3 weeks before the draft. We need Blind Monkeys to sign up for the Yahoo league, so we can officially get started. I can not do the schedule or calendar until all 16 teams have signed up. If anybody sees Monkeys give him them info, he is holding up the show. Oh yeah and Merv...$5, if you can change your name back without me unlocking your team.

VSOP
Congrats to Jim for winning his first event. Was a nice sized pot too. Points are updated as of 8/1/08. Special thanks to Ron, for coming thru with all the pizza...that was awesome! Anybody interested in hosting the next event, should post a comment. My house is a little far for most of the group.

Killa I know some of the people did the "platinum" package where they got a 23rd pick. How will that order go? And when will that be shown on the page?

Sorry I should have posted it sooner but because I was still waiting for peoples money and package choices it was delayed. Deadlines are dealines...so only 8 teams will be allowed to participate in the 23rd round. It is updated on the draft order on the main page. It follows the regular snake draft format with TS #353, HM#354, IP #355,QS #356,KC #357,TA #358, H8 #359 and DD #360. Please remember this draft pick cannot be traded, however the player that is chosen in that round may be traded or waived. ONCE AGAIN...THE DRAFT ORDER THAT IS POSTED ON THE MAIN PAGE IS THE FINAL DRAFT ORDER TILL 8/23/08.

antoine or merv should host the next event. they both live in the middle of town from myke/alo and mitch/me. i think that's a good halfway point.

Hey Yo, Commish. I understand there was some interest in a keeper league, but also some concern. Why don't you try a "Rookie Keeper" league? Basically you can keep a rookie you drafted for your next year's team, but you lose the spot in the following years draft. Example- this year you draft Mcfadden in the first round, He ends up blowing out both knees and is career is done, you would probably elect not to utilize the rookie keeper option because you would lose your first rounder. BUT - you drafted Joe Flacco in the 14th round, he ended up being the next Joe Montana, so you would elect to forgo your 14th rounder next year to keep him. It rewards you taking chances on rookies. It would be pretty easy to track, and it would give them an entry into the Keeper League world. You would only be able to keep the player for the next season. -jimbo

After reading my post, I forgot Jordon was in the league, so let me clarify - you would still be able to use the players you drafted for this year's team. The decision to keep a rookie and lose the corresponding spot in the next years draft would be made after the season is over. PS- I nominate Penn Jillette's house for the next poker tourney.

Problem I see with keeping a rookie from the 14th round and he ends up blowing up and having it only cost you a 14th round next year is that you will have 15 teams bitching that you have a 1st round quality player for a 14th rounder, in 2009. Can you say well that what I get for taking a chance on my 14th rounder not really...because you are already benefiting in 08 season with the player...However I would agree if you took a rookie in 08 and he sat on the bench and you kept him all year because you know he will start in 2009 then that was good planning. In this league...I know they will not go for that. We tested the one player keeper "franchised player" in 07 and it was not a hit and only 3 teams chose to participate. True keeper fashion which is something I am totally for is to keep your entire roster and you draft the rookies in 2009 like normal. This is more realistic as the worst team in the previous season will have 1st crack at the top rookie of the draft. Free Agency rules would work regularly. In my opinion this gives each team a real "identity" and gives them true strengths and weaknesses and a draft plan that they have to take into account for multiple years. Every year for maybe the past 3 this has come up and the league votes it down. So because time is short this needs to be addressed NOW. Please vote ASAP. I need all 16 teams to vote.
